Why is that women are always the ones that have crazy, intense encounters while out on morning or night runs? For example, being attacked by someone.
Maybe because they choose to run at a time of day when no one is around or choose to run in places that no one pays attention too like RURAL TRAILS!
According to WTVR news, Texas citizen, Jennifer Cutrona is doing something about this.
Cutrona experienced a life-changing event last April when she was personally attacked while training on a wooded trail for her marathon. After this attack it inspired her to invent the new self protecting, “Booby Trap Bras.”
“It wasn’t done out of fear, to live in fear, it was done just to be prepared just in case” said Cutrona.
The “Booby Trap Bras” is designed for physical activity. It is made with a sports bra only as of right now. The bra provides a special department to store either a knife or pepper spray.
The prices of the bra differentiates between “Just in Case Knife Bra” that costs $54.00. If you purchase this bra, the knife is sold separately so you would have to pay a little bit more. Than the “Just in Case Pepper Spray Bra” costs $49.99.
The pepper spray that comes with the bra has blue dye that is added, so the police will be able to detect the attackers.
Yes it is not fair that women have to more cautious when they want to go on a run especially alone. But it is common sense to be aware of the time of the day when you do plan on running and the route you should take.
Cutrona’s invention of the “Bobby Trap Bras” is very smart and will get some great promotion, but let’s hope no one injures themselves with the knife or pepper spray rather than their attacker.
