Eight million dollars has been requested by the Secret Service in the funding of a White House replica. Why? To do their job and start protecting the White House from intruders.
According to the New York Times article, the Secret Service currently practices its training in a parking lot, and a replica of the White House would do a far better job assisting Secret Service officers in understanding the true environment of the president’s home.
While any additional protection and training is welcome, the issue comes in the amount of money being put into the project — $8 million is a hefty price to pay, but the Secret Service seems to have no issue with the request. They have additionally planned for a “live–fire shoot house” on the premises, which will be in Maryland.
