Attention to all Anthem health insurance customers: your personal account information may have been hacked.
Anthem Inc. announced via Twitter on Wednesday of the cyber attack. Data including social security numbers, names, birthdays, home addresses and email addresses of over 80 million people might have been exposed. Shortly after Anthem took notice of this overnight attack, the insurance company immediately got in contact with the FBI and security firm Mandiant to determine who is responsible for the attack. According to the Anthem Facts website, the company will provide free credit monitoring and identity protection services for those who have been affected. The affected members will be mailed more information about the services.
Meanwhile, the company has been receiving praise over their course of actions following the attack.
